Highly recommend Drain Rescue Plumbers. Roman and his crew did an amazing job. I had an emergency situation, tree roots were growing in the drainage pipes causing backup in my basement. In a span of two days, they made all arrangements, excavated, replaced the damaged pipes, cleaned up all the debris and dirt.

We had an awesome experience with Drain Rescue. From Charles who came to quote on the job and explained everything in detail to Oleg who did the job. Our house is very old and the plumbing was added after the house was built. The job was not an easy one and he managed to get it done quickly and efficiently. I'm very grateful for the team that took care of us. Thank you Drain Rescue!

Common Issues

Plumbing Problems We Handle Most in Toronto

These are the calls we get most often from homes and businesses in Toronto. Don’t see your
problem here? Contact us regardless. Chances are, we’ve already handled it.

Slow or Blocked Drains

A buildup of hair, grease, and soap scum is usually behind a sluggish kitchen or bathroom drain, and left alone, it can seize up completely. We turn to professional-grade methods like hydro-jetting to clear the line fast and get water moving again without damaging your pipes.

Dripping Faucets and Leaking Taps

A faucet that won't stop dripping is more than an annoyance. It wastes water and wears down fixtures over time. Worn washers or valve seats are the usual culprits, and our plumbers repair or swap them quickly so the leak stops and your bill doesn’t go up.

Hidden Drain Leaks and Water Damage

A musty smell, a damp cabinet, or a stain spreading across your ceiling can all indicate a leaking drain pipe somewhere out of sight. We use leak-detection equipment to track the source down before it turns into a much bigger repair.

Running Toilets

A constantly running toilet points to a worn flapper or faulty fill valve, and it can quietly waste a surprising amount of water. We swap in reliable replacement parts to fix it. For clogs, we skip the harsh chemical cleaners and instead clear the blockage with the right tools.

Weak or Inconsistent Water Pressure

Pipe corrosion, mineral buildup, or a faulty valve can all affect your water pressure. Our plumbers track down the cause and restore proper flow so that every tap and fixture in the house works as it should.

Sewer Backup

Multiple drains slowing down at once, or sewage surfacing through a floor drain, usually means a sewer backup that can't wait. Our team responds quickly to contain the damage and get your home back to normal.

Our Services

Plumbing Services for Toronto Homes and Businesses

Whether it’s a middle-of-the-night emergency or a routine inspection you’ve been putting off, our licensed Toronto team handles it: fast, clean, and backed by a written warranty.

Emergency Plumbing Repairs

A burst pipe or sudden basement flood doesn't wait for business hours, and neither do we. Our emergency teams are available 24/7 and fully equipped to prevent further damage and begin repairs immediately upon arrival.

Drain Cleaning and Drain Repair

Chronic clogs and cracked drain lines call for more than a quick fix. We rely on camera inspections and trenchless techniques to make lasting repairs with minimal digging, and our hydro jetting system clears grease, sludge, and roots that a standard snake can't touch.

Sewer Repair

High-definition camera footage accurately identifies the location of the damage in the sewer line before we start any work. This allows us to choose between trenchless repair and traditional methods, opting for the solution that restores your line with the least disruption.

Toilet Installation

From a straightforward builder-grade replacement to a high-efficiency or smart toilet upgrade, our plumbers install it correctly the first time. We also handle stubborn clogs and worn-part replacements along the way, ensuring your toilet’s long-lasting performance.

Hydro Jetting

When a pipe is excessively clogged for a standard snake, hydro jetting can be the ideal solution. It uses high-pressure water to effectively remove years of buildup, while remaining safe for your pipes and the environment.

Drain Camera Inspection

We always perform an inspection before starting any work. A drain camera inspection shows us the exact location and cause of a problem inside the pipe, which means less guesswork, less cost, and no unnecessary digging.

Backwater Valve Installation

A storm shouldn't mean a flooded basement. We install City-approved backwater valves to prevent sewage from backing up into your home, and we handle the paperwork for any rebates you qualify for.

Sump Pump Installation and Repair

For many Toronto basements, a properly working sump pump is the single most effective safeguard against flooding. We install, service, and replace sump pumps to keep water out during the hardest storms.

Waterproofing

A damp or wet basement puts your foundation and your home's value at risk. Our waterproofing team inspects the source of the moisture and applies the right fix, whether that's crack injection, exterior coatings, or improved drainage. Free estimates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my basement back up during heavy rain even though it's not near a creek or river?

Much of Toronto’s older areas, especially neighbourhoods built before the 1940s, still relies on a combined sewer system, where stormwater and sewage share the same pipe. During a heavy downpour, that pipe can surcharge, and instead of overflowing outside, the backup often flows into the lowest drain in your house. A backwater valve is the most direct way to stop that from reaching your basement, and it’s worth discussing with a plumber if you’ve had this happen more than once.

It’s worth a look. Homes in areas like Riverdale, The Annex, Cabbagetown, and Leslieville often still have their original clay or cast iron drain lines, which can crack, shift, or collapse after decades underground. Because downtown lots tend to be narrow with little to no side-yard access, we lean on trenchless repair methods whenever possible, which means less excavation and less disruption to your property.

Possibly. The City of Toronto’s Priority Lead Water Service Replacement Program applies to homes built before the mid-1950s, when lead was commonly used for water service pipes. If your pipe is confirmed lead, the City will replace its portion (from the watermain to your property line) once you commit to replacing your own portion (from the property line into your home), which remains the homeowner’s cost. We can confirm whether your pipe is lead and coordinate the private-side replacement.

Yes. Shared stacks and older rental buildings come with their own complications, from tracking down which unit a leak originated from to coordinating access with building management. We work with condo boards, property managers, and landlords across Toronto on both emergency calls and planned maintenance.

Requirements depend on your specific property and how the unit is registered, so it’s worth confirming with the City or a licensed plumber for your situation. However, a backwater valve is strongly recommended for any basement apartment, since a sewer backup will hit a below-grade unit before anywhere else in the house. Many secondary suite retrofits include one as standard practice.

It breaks down by item: up to $500 toward a home plumbing assessment, up to $1,600 per backwater valve (maximum of two), up to $2,250 for a sump pump plus up to $300 for a battery backup, and up to $400 to sever and cap a weeping tile connection, all covering 80% of the invoiced cost, up to a combined $6,650 per property for work completed on or after November 12, 2025. We can walk you through which pieces apply to your home.

This comes up constantly in older parts of the city. Wherever the pipe condition allows, we use trenchless methods, like pipe lining or pipe bursting, that work through small access points rather than a full trench. A camera inspection tells us upfront whether your line is a good candidate.

It depends on your home’s grading, foundation age, and whether your weeping tile system still drains properly. Older homes without a modern foundation drain setup are more vulnerable to groundwater seeping in than newer builds, even without a basement apartment in the picture. A plumber can assess your specific setup and tell you honestly whether it’s warranted.
